HERE IS WHAT YOU
CAN DO.
- Plant a tree.
- Recycle!
- Use cloth napkins instead of paper.
- When traveling, take along reusable cups or mugs.
- Avoid buying Styrofoam products. You may even want to buy
from fast food restaurants who use paper/foil packaging.
- Buy products packaged in returnable, reusable, or
recyclable containers. Avoid products in disposable
containers.
- If you pack your own lunch for school or work, carry your
dinner in a lunch box, not a sack.
- Save kitchen scraps, and make a compost heap for flower
pots, soil, gardening around the house.
- If you must use foil and plastic bags, wash and re-use.
You may want to wrap sandwiches and other foods in
cellulose bags or waxed paper.
- Ask your church, school, work place to stop using Styrofoam or other plastic products.
- Don't leave the water running when brushing your teeth.
Use only the water that is necessary to do the job.
- Buy products in bulk or economy size.
- Take your own shopping bags when going to the grocery
store.
- One night each week, do something for entertainment that
requires no electrical energy. ( turn off the TV. and
stereo and read, put together a jigsaw puzzle, etc.)
- Control mosquitoes and other insect pests by erecting bat
houses or provide nesting sites for insect eating birds.
- Reduce the number of times per week that you water your
lawn. (Or don't water)
- Take showers, not baths.
- During hot weather, turn off the air conditioning in your
home, office, or car for one week.
- Save all of your newspapers and recycle them.
- Buy durable, repairable products that last longer.
- Reuse wrapping paper, bags, and boxes.
- Offer out grown clothing and unwanted furniture and toys
to friends, families, and charities.
- Have household appliances repaired before replacing.
- Buy products made from, or packaged in recycled materials
