FALL CREEK VALLEY CONSERVATION CLUB AIR RIFLE LEAGUE

On Wednesday evenings in January, February and March a few Highpower and Smallbore shooters get together at the FCVCC clubhouse to keep their trigger fingers and eyes in tune by shooting Air Rifles at ten meters. We are joined by the Army JROTC shooters from Morton Memorial High School, Knightstown, IN. MSgt. (R) George Lacy brings four shooters and one assistant to shoot with us each week. The shooters must qualify by shooting a match at school. Only the top four get to come and shoot, with a fifth student coming along to score and assist with the equipment. Often this fifth spot is decided by a shoot off at school. The reward besides shooting is the chance to get "off campus" for a while. Sarge says that they treat our league as an away match which helps when they travel to other locations to compete.

We shoot a 3-Position course of fire. Twenty shots prone, twenty shots kneeling (the old guys shoot from the sitting position) and ten shots off hand. At the end of the league we have a pizza party, fun shoot and give out awards, which this year are T-shirts embroidered with the FCVCC logo.

March 1-3 the Morton Memorial Army JROTC Rifle Team traveled to Colorado Springs, CO to shoot in the 2007 National JROTC Air Rifle Western Region Championship match at the National Olympic Training Center. They finished 4th out of 51 teams. They thanked us for our support by posing with the Olympic rings in their T-shirts.
